Michael Pittman Jr.'s case is an example of how the concussion protocol is supposed to work and the importance of players self-reporting symptoms. Pittman was injured in Week 15 and went into the return-to-play concussion protocol. He progressed throughout the week and was cleared to play in Week 16. Unfortunately, after traveling to Atlanta with the team Pittman experienced a recurrence of symptoms. He was downgraded to Out and placed back in the concussion protocol. His progression was smooth and he was back in limited practice by Wednesday, full by Thursday. After a second full practice on Friday (along with the required independent neurological consultant clearance), Pittman cleared the concussion protocol according to head coach Shane Steichen and is expected to be available to play.
Josh Jacobs is one of the rare players with Doubtful status heading into Sunday's game that truly has a chance to play, at least according to Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce. Jacobs has a quad injury that has caused him to miss the last two games. In Week 15, the Raiders were playing a Thursday night game and Jacobs had sustained the injury just two days earlier so his absence came as no surprise. Last week the Raiders played on Monday night and it seemed Jacobs might have a better shot of playing but an illness sidelined him from practice late in the week. When Monday night came, Jacobs was ruled Out.
This week Jacobs has not set foot on the practice field, seemingly setting him up to miss another week. According to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez however, Pierce maintains that Jacobs will be a gametime decision, despite the Doubtful tag. His non-participation in practice and gameday status indicates that Jacobs is not fully healthy and there is some concern that if he does play, he may be limited or at risk for a setback. That said, Jacobs has played through injuries in the past with mixed results; with no practice sessions during the week, it's difficult to gauge just how ready he is for four quarters of football. The Raiders have a capable fill-in in Zamir White (fresh off a 145-yard performance in Jacobs' Week 16 absence) and he could be called upon again on Sunday.

Sometimes players have the same game status designation but their actual status heading into the game is different. Such is the case with the Seahawks and two of their key offensive players this week. According to ESPN's Brady Henderson, coach Pete Carroll said DK Metcalf was dealing with a stiff back so they "took care of him this week" (presumably explaining his non-participation in practice throughout the week) and he is expected to play.
Meanwhile Kenneth Walker III is dealing with both a shoulder injury and an illness. He did not practice Wednesday or Thursday but did return to limited session Friday and now they will take it "all the way to game time" to determine whether or not he will play.

Isiah Pacheco did not practice Wednesday or Thursday due to a concussion sustained in the team's Week 16 game (notably, on Monday). He did return to limited practice Friday however and according to Matt Derrick at ChiefsDigest.com, coach Andy Reid said Pacheco was feeling well and expected to gain final clearance from the concussion protocol. Pacheco is officially listed as questionable on the game status report but if he is cleared by team doctors and the independent neurological consultant, he will be available Sunday. It is worth noting Clyde Edwards-Helaire missed Thursday and Friday with an illness and he is also listed as questionable. Jerick McKinnon remains on injured reserve with a groin injury.
Mecole Hardman Jr. injured a ligament in his right thumb in Week 11 and underwent subsequent surgery to repair it. The team placed him on injured reserve and he has not played since. It appears that is about to change. Hardman was a full participant in practice throughout the week and was listed on the pregame status report as Questionable. On Saturday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported the Chiefs plan to activate Hardman off injured reserve which will make him available for Sunday's game.
