Saints coach Sean Payton sitting courtside for Game 4 of the Pelicans-Blazers game. Fans were not allowed to bring brooms into the game as New Orleans goes for the sweep on Saturday. It does not appear that they made an exception for the Saints coach, who famously danced with a broom along with players in the locker room after their three-game sweep of the Panthers last season.

Another way the league evened out the schedule pain is back-to-back-to-back road games (3 consecutive). In 2017 there were 12. This season there are 6. (This includes neutral site venues as road games.) Of the 6 three-game road sequences, two teams own 2 of them if you consider neutral site (London/Mexico City) games as road games: Rams and Chargers. The Ravens and Saints own the other two. The Rams second 3-game road sequence includes their Mexico City game, but it's interrupted by their bye. The Chargers actually have an *uninterrupted 4-game road sequence*, counting their London game, which (strictly speaking) includes two 3-game road sequences.

Receiver Willie Snead will be present for the start of the Saints' offseason workout program Monday even though he remains unsigned as a restricted free agent, a source confirmed (the news was first reported by the NFL Network). The Saints made the lowest possible qualifying offer to Snead (one year, $1.9 million) to maintain their rights to match any deal Snead might sign elsewhere – but he has not signed an offer sheet with another team. The deadline to sign with other teams is Friday.

New Saints and Pelicans owner Gayle Benson sent a letter to the other 31 NFL owners on Thursday saying she is "fully prepared to assume this role" and will "do so with the same drive and focus towards success that my husband displayed throughout his life." She detailed her desire to continue Benson's legacy with the team and to help the league move forward, and she said she will soon provide the commissioner with her own succession plan.

Safety Kenny Vaccaro, one of the top-rated free agents still on the market, is visiting with the Dolphins on Thursday according to a source (as first reported by the NFL Network). Vaccaro, 27, flashed great potential in a versatile role with the Saints over five years after being drafted in the first round of 2013. But he also battled some inconsistency and injuries while racking up 67 career starts, 385 tackles, eight interceptions, 7.5 sacks and four forced fumbles. The 6-foot, 214-pounder is probably most effective as a strong safety closer to the line of scrimmage, but he is also very good at covering receivers out of the slot.
