Rams tight ends have combined for 11 catches. Four tight ends had at least 11 catches in one game last year. Rams Sean McVay, on the challenge of inexperience at such a young position ...

WR Sammy Watkins got action in 11-on-11 work today, eventually working with the first-team offense and even catching a pass across the middle from Jared Goff. Rams coach Sean McVay said he's "picking things up pretty quickly. It's a tough time to come in terms of where we're at in the installation because pretty much everything's in. We've gotten all of our situations, so, we're going a little bit faster than you'd be accustomed to early on. But I thought he picked things up well."

Rookie report from Rams camp: Nice play from safety John Johnson, jumping a deep-post route from Pharoh Cooper to intercept Jared Goff during 11-on-11 work. Rams coach Sean McVay recently identified Johnson as someone who "continues to emerge." He's been used on special teams and both safety positions.

Best play from Rams camp today actually came from Jared Goff. It was a beautiful deep throw to Josh Reynolds, perfectly in stride, right over a defender's outstretched arm for a touchdown. Came after a rough stretch for Goff during 11-on-11 work, so, a nice confidence boost for him.

Two interceptions each for Jared Goff and Sean Mannion today. First-team Rams defense was very good once again. Cody Davis and John Johnson picked Goff.

One guy who stood out today: WR Josh Reynolds. He looked really good. Big target, made several impressive catches in traffic.

Sammy Watkins a lot more active in practice today, as expected. Just caught a long pass from Jared Goff in offense-only work.

Preseason Power Rankings: Rams inch up a spot

We'll get a full season of quarterback Jared Goff in 2017. He didn't impress in 2016, but perhaps more time, practice and the addition of Sammy Watkins will give Goff a good chance to improve.

Rams OLB Robert Quinn raised his first in the air during the national anthem on Saturday, just like he did last season. In an interview with the Southern California News Group and the LA Times on Monday, Quinn said he spoke to Sean McVay about it beforehand. He wanted to express himself while respecting McVay's wishes that everybody stand for the anthem, and he doesn't want to be a distraction. On why he's doing it: "Well, we might need an hour for this conversation. I'll try to put it in the short version. I mean, when you see the world through a different set of eyes, you see things differently. In a sense, even though a scenario doesn't change, it affects you different than it does me. It's not just a stance, but an appreciation to ancestors who made a way for, and gave opportunities for, me and others that came along the way. So it's more of an appreciation than a stance, that not all has been forgotten."

Rams injury report: CBs Nickell Robey-Coleman and Kayvon Webster sat out practice today, but it doesn't appear to be anything significant. LBs Mark Barron and Robert Quinn practiced after being given Saturday's game off. LB Samson Ebukam (hamstring), OL Andrew Donnal (knee), RB Lance Dunbar (knee) and WR Tavon Austin (hamstring) are still out. No update on Aaron Donald from Sean McVay.

Rams rookie report from practice: Gerald Everett did a nice job of hauling in a jump ball from Jared Goff during a red-zone drill. He was well covered, yet hung on.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Best play from Rams practice today: Robert Woods ran a curl route in the red zone, and Trumaine Johnson jumped the route to intercept a pass from Jared Goff. It was one of three interceptions for Goff today.
