Can Stanton keep the ship afloat?

Although it wasn't pretty in Sunday's blowout loss to the Rams, Drew Stanton has shown in the past that he can lead a winning team despite his individual struggles. Stanton posted a 5-3 record in 2014 when Palmer went down with a torn ACL. However. he has the worst completion percentage (51.1) of any QB since 2014 (min. 300 attempts).

After each exceeded expectations yesterday, the Rams and Cowboys improved their respective FPI ratings more than any other team this week (so far). On the other side of the coin, the Cardinals' rating dropped a massive 4.2 points, while the Colts and 49ers fell a good bit, too.

Adrian Peterson on why the Cardinals' offense wasn't working Sunday against the Rams: "I just felt like the energy level wasn't there for whatever reason."

In what's turning out to be a second-straight mediocre season for the Cardinals, there's a beacon of hope glimmering in the distance. Outside linebacker Chandler Jones got his eighth sack on Sunday against the Rams. He's by far Arizona's first half defensive MVP, especially on a defense that's allowed more than 30 points in four of its seven games this season. Jones sits among the league-leaders in sacks, showing the Cardinals that he was worth every penny of the $82.5 million deal they gave him.

Gurley thrives as Peterson is shut down

The Cardinals' and Rams' run defenses entered Week 7 on opposite ends of the spectrum, ranking fourth and 29th, respectively, in yards per rush allowed. But the roles were flipped Sunday as Todd Gurley averaged 2.9 yards before contact per carry, while Adrian Peterson was hit at or behind the line on eight of his 11 attempts.

Palmer has broken arm, could miss season

Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer left Sunday's loss to the Rams in the second quarter with a broken left arm and will have surgery when the team returns to Arizona. Palmer could miss anywhere between eight weeks and the rest of the season.

The first half couldn't have gone any worse for the Cardinals after having a week in London to prepared for this game. They haven't scored. The defense is barely creating a pass rush. Carson Palmer is out with an arm injury. Back-up Drew Stanton is struggling. They're slipping. A week after looking impressive on offense, Arizona has turned in an ugly first half here in London.

Jared Goff TD run -- off the zone-read scheme. Didn't expect to see that today. But it's a smart call inside the 10 yard line.

With Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer questionable to return with a right arm injury and Drew Stanton in at quarterback, Arizona doesn't have another quarterback active today. The backup options now will likely be either Kerwynn Williams or Patrick Peterson.

Seth Walder ESPN Analytics

Drew Stanton has a career Total QBR of 46.2. That isn't great, but also is not all that much of a drop off from what the Cardinals might be able to realistically expect out of Carson Palmer. Since the start of 2016, Palmer has recorded a Total QBR of 51.3.
