Stanford is looking more like Stanford again, wearing down a young Arizona State defense with ball control. Cardinal doing it in an un-Stanford-like fashion, running more effectively outside the tackles. Cam Scarlett, who had rushed for a total of 48 yards vs. FBS opposition this season, has 54 yards and a TD tonight subbing for the (again) re-injured Bryce Love.

Mystified as to the empty seats at Sun Devil Stadium. Then I remembered that the Cardinals are playing a home game tonight. As if the Pac-12, with seven teams in NFL markets, didn't have enough issues.

If you like defense and a running clock, then Stanford and Arizona State played a half for you. The extra five days of R&R did little to cure what ails the Cardinal's offense. Stanford held the ball for 19:58 and gained 183 yards, 73 of them in the final two minutes. A holding penalty took a Cardinal TD off the board. Arizona State needs to get its defense off the field in the second half. Holding onto the ball (literally) would help. The Cardinal's two field goals came after Sun Devil turnovers.

Stanford RB Bryce Love will play against Arizona State tonight, coach David Shaw announced. He was previously referred to as "questionable" due to an ankle injury.
