A loss to Purdue didn't eliminate the Buckeyes, but Ohio State's chance to reach the playoff dropped 47 percentage points. Meanwhile no one improved its playoff outlook yesterday more than Michigan, who is now the fourth-most likely team to reach the CFP.

Ohio State's loss to Purdue doesn't eliminate the Buckeyes, but it puts pressure on them to finish as a one-loss Big Ten champ, which means beating Michigan on Nov. 24. According to ESPN's Playoff Predictor, Ohio State's chances of making the playoff dropped to 42 percent. The loss also opened the door for Oklahoma to get back into the debate if the Sooners can finish as a one-loss champ.

TCU is down, but Oklahoma's defense needed a strong performance today under new coordinator Ruffin McNeil and received one. The Sooners allowed only 275 yards, just three points in the second half and only one scoring drive longer than 33 yards. OU will be tested much more in the coming weeks, but after the Texas mess and a coordinator change, the Sooners can feel better about their outlook on D.

Alabama dominated again, while the Wolverines look like CFP contenders after taking down Michigan State. Ohio State? Not so much. What else have we learned in Week 8?

No. 9 Oklahoma rebounds from only loss with 52-27 win at TCU

Kyler Murray threw four touchdowns, Kennedy Brooks and Trey Sermon both had 100-yard rushing games with scores and ninth-ranked Oklahoma rebounded from its only loss this season by beating TCU for the third time in 11 months, 52-27 on Saturday.

After a shaky second quarter, OU rebounded with its best defensive half of the season, holding TCU to just 3 points. After firing defensive coordinator Mike Stoops, coach Lincoln Riley called it "a damn good start."

Don't know how much to credit new defensive coordinator Ruffin McNeill, but numbers are plain to see: with 4:17 to play, Oklahoma has limited TCU in the second half to 126 total yards and three points. The Frogs offense has scored two touchdowns and two field goals, which is what passes for defensive dominance in the Big 12 these days.
