The Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres are all either decidedly or seemingly using six-man rotations.
The Tampa Bay Rays activated Jacob Faria (abdominal) from the DL on Friday, but manager Kevin Cash said he's happy with the five current members of his rotation, relegating Faria to long-relief work.
Dylan Covey has been filling in as the Chicago White Sox's fifth starter, with that spot due up next on Sept. 23, but the team has indicated that David Holmberg and Mike Pelfrey could be considered for spot starts in the final two weeks.
Daniel Norris will move into the Detroit Tigers' rotation on Sept. 22, replacing Chad Bell.
Andrew Heaney (shoulder) was scratched from his scheduled Friday start and will not be ready to pitch by the next time the Los Angeles Angels need a fifth starter on Sept. 23. The team will use another bullpen day to fill that start, with Bud Norris again serving as the "starter."
The Seattle Mariners will give Andrew Moore another start on Sept. 23.
Mike Foltynewicz (finger) won't be ready to rejoin the Atlanta Braves' rotation until at least Sept. 25 (Monday of Week 25).
The New York Mets moved Jacob deGrom's (nausea) next start back to Sept. 24. They will also have Noah Syndergaard (DL: shoulder) start and pitch one inning on Sept. 23, with Matt Harvey following him in relief.
A.J. Cole hasn't yet been scheduled for another start by the Washington Nationals, and Max Scherzer is listed as the team's scheduled Sept. 24 starter.
Ivan Nova (calf) is expected to be ready to make his next start for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sept. 22. The team didn't schedule starts for Chad Kuhl or Tyler Glasnow during Week 24.
Adam Wainwright (elbow) was activated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday to work out of their bullpen, which will remain his role through at least regular season's end. With Jack Flaherty approaching his innings limit for the season, he'll be moved to the bullpen, with John Gant filling in for Flaherty on Sept. 24.
The Colorado Rockies pushed Chad Bettis' next start back to Sept. 23.
