Jets' Donahue faces DUI charge from May '17

An affidavit obtained by ESPN claims that Jets LB Dylan Donahue faces a drunken-driving charge in his home state of Montana following a car wreck last May. Donahue was arrested for DWI last month after crashing into a bus in the Lincoln Tunnel.

Teddy Bridgewater's one-year Jets contract guarantees him only $500,000. That's his signing bonus. He gets a $5M non-guaranteed salary and a $500k workout bonuses. Incentives up to $9M for playing time, yards and TDS.

QB Teddy Bridgewater signed his one-year contact today. "I'm excited about the direction we're headed in," he said via the team.. "I'm excited to be a part of something that can be very special and I just look forward to getting to work with the guys and a great year." He joins a crowded depth chart that includes Josh McCown, Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg.

The Jets are planning to sign former Chiefs backup ILB Kevin Pierre Louis, a source confirmed. (First reported by Draft Diamonds.) He's a coverage linebacker who can play in sub packages and on special teams. He's seen as a potential complement to new MLB Avery Williamson, who is a first- and second-down linebacker. The Jets were looking for linebacker depth. Pierre Louis was arrested in January for misdemeanor marijuana possession.

I've said all along that the Colts, who don't need a quarterback, were in a great position to trade down in this draft. Moving back to No. 6 overall in the deal with the Jets still allows Indianapolis to take the best player available. Could top pass-rusher Bradley Chubb be on the board there? Indianapolis also adds two second-round picks this year (and one in 2019) to fill out a roster badly in need of talent.

The AFC East quarterback race is on. The Jets traded up Saturday to No. 3, acquiring the Indianapolis Colts' pick that Buffalo might have been targeting in a trade up for a quarterback. If the Bills want the same quarterback the Jets desire — and don't expect New York to telegraph that — then Bills would need to move up to No. 1 or No. 2.

Jets trade up, acquire No. 3 pick from Colts

The Jets acquired the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL draft in a trade with the Colts, who move down to No. 6, in addition to acquiring three second-round picks from New York.

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

The Jets must really want to draft a quarterback. On Saturday morning, they announced a blockbuster trade with the Colts. They moved up from six to three, giving up their two second-round picks this year (37 and 49) and their second rounder in 2019. Had a feeling this would happen based on rumblings around the team; just didn't think it would happen this soon.

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

The Jets have re-signed NT Mike Pennel to a three-year contract, his agent announced on Twitter. Pennel is projected as the backup nose tackle, behind Steve McLendon, but there's a chance for a future starting role because McLendon is 32 and entering the final year of his contract. Pennel averaged about 20 snaps per game last season, mainly on run downs. So the Jets helped their depth today, bringing back Pennel and backup LT Ben Ijalana.
