Linebacker Fred Carr, who was a member of Vince Lombardi's last draft class for the Green Bay Packers, died Monday at age 71.
The Arizona Republic reported that Carr, a Phoenix native, had been suffering from dementia and prostate cancer.
Carr played 10 seasons for the Packers and was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame in 1983. Although he never played for Lombardi when he was coach, Carr came to Green Bay as the fifth overall pick in the 1968 draft. That year, Lombardi served as the Packers' general manager but handed coaching duties over to Phil Bengtson.
Carr played in 140 games, including 112 starts, from 1968-77.
