Wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, a projected first-round pick in the NFL draft, will forgo the 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine this week in Indianapolis, Treadwell told NFL.com on Monday.
NFL scouts won't see the former Ole Miss standout run the 40 until his March 28 pro day in Oxford, Mississippi, though he is slated to participate in all other drills at the combine. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. slated Treadwell as the first receiver selected in his Mock Draft 2.0.
Treadwell said he wants to spend more time training for the 40 in Miami, where he said he has been working out, before running in front of NFL scouts at Ole Miss' facilities. The junior, who caught 82 passes and 11 touchdowns in 2015, said his goal is to run "in the 4.4s or 4.5s."
"I've only had a week and a half here [in Miami] and want to wait 'til I'm at our facilities," he said.
Treadwell said his training in Miami has consisted of speed, footwork and route-running drills, among other things.
