Christian Yelich returns to Brewers lineup Wednesday vs. Reds

Christian Yelich was back in the Milwaukee Brewers' starting lineup against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, one day after the outfielder was activated from the 10-day disabled list.

Yelich was available off the bench Tuesday but did not play in Milwaukee's 2-0 victory. He batted second in the lineup Wednesday afternoon as the Brewers' starting center fielder.

Yelich had been sidelined by a strained oblique since April 4 and missed 12 games over that stretch.

"Getting Christian back is really important," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday. "[Monday] was a day when we probably had four guys out of the lineup that were in our planned lineup for the first day. But that's a baseball season. It's going to happen."

Yelich, acquired in an offseason trade with Miami, hit 39 homers during the past two seasons with the Marlins. He hit .385 with one homer and five RBIs this season before going on the DL.
