Braves to try Bautista at 3B (1:08)

Tristan H. Cockcroft ESPN Senior Writer

I don't think this Jose Bautista third base plan is going to amount to a whole lot (if anything at all), but preparing in case it does: I sure don't like it for Johan Camargo (drops to utility role?) and Sean Newcomb (lefty with recent ground ball leaning).

Things went south for Cubs starter Yu Darvish today after a fifth-inning balk. His manager Joe Maddon doesn't know of there was causation to that correlation, but he also didn't see a balk.

Bradford Doolittle ESPN Staff Writer

It was not a sharp outing for the Cubs' Yu Darvish, who didn't get out of the fifth today against Atlanta. Darvish navigated through some traffic in the early innings but came unhinged after a balk call in his final frame. That call sent the Braves' Ozzie Albies to third base, then Albies scored on a wild pitch for the game's first run. Darvish then allowed three straight hits, the last a three-run homer by Preston Tucker. After a two walks and a bunt hit, Darvish was done. He threw 105 pitches in his 4 2/3 innings. Atlanta leads this one 4-0 in the sixth.
