Edwin Diaz leads the majors with 36 saves, a huge season the Mariners are sitting in a playoff position. In fact, the Mariners describe their game plan as "Get the ball to Eddie." So of course Scooter Gennett hits a game-tying home run off him in the bottom of the ninth, joining Fred McGriff and Ralph Kiner with game-tying homers in the ninth, and we go to extras.

Machado trade chips dominate Futures Game

Before Manny Machado arrived for the All-Star Game, the Futures Game on Sunday was a who's who of prospects bandied about in trade talks for the Orioles shortstop and others expected to be moved before the July 31 non-waiver deadline.

Taylor Trammell smashes a long fly ball to deep center and flashes two fingers to the dugout as he heads to first base to signal his second home run of the day ... only the ball hits the top of the wall and he has to settle for a standup triple. OK, I kind of like the cockiness there, but you better be sure it's out. Still, an impressive display all day from the Reds prospect.

Reds outfielder Taylor Trammell had the most impressive batting practice session of anybody on the U.S. team, smashing line drives and several long home runs and he just crushed one over the fence in right-center with his pretty left-handed swing in his first at-bat in the Futures Game. The 35th pick in the 2016 draft, he's developed into of the most intriguing power-speed players in the minors.

Carl Willis on the Dan Otero/Oliver Perez confusion: ‪"I made the mistake. I brought the wrong guy up. Not that (Dan Otero) can't get the job done; just wasn't the right match-up."

Wow, what a ninth inning for the Reds. After Trevor Bauer dominated with 12 strikeouts over eight scoreless innings, the Reds scored seven off Cody Allen and Dan Otero -- all with two outs -- to take a 7-4 lead. Joey Votto's bases-loaded double plated the go-ahead runs. One deadline trade you can expect: Bullpen help for the Indians.

The Indians had a 4-0 lead at the top of the 9th inning after a brilliant outing by Trevor Bauer. The Reds scored 7 runs against the Indians bullpen in the top of the 9th and now lead 7-4.

After a pair of first inning home runs, José Ramírez (25) and Francisco Lindor (24) have a combined 49 HR this season, second-most by any duo in MLB behind J.D. Martínez and Mookie Betts (50). The Indians record for most HR before the All-Star break is 27 by Albert Belle in 1996.
