IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant did not practice Friday but is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the New York Giants.
Bryant continued to rehab his surgically repaired right foot as the Cowboys moved their practice to Coppell (Texas) High School's indoor facility because of the rainy weather. Bryant went through rehab on the side on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Cowboys flew to New Jersey on Friday and will visit Ground Zero on Friday night. They are scheduled to hold a walk-through Saturday at a local high school.
Bryant did not travel with the Cowboys in order to rest, according to a team spokesman. If Bryant does not travel to New Jersey on Saturday, he will have to be downgraded to out, per injury report rules.
Even though coach Jason Garrett has said Bryant will have to practice in order to play, offensive coordinator Scott Linehan left open the possibility of Bryant playing a limited role. Bryant has yet to take a snap with Sunday's new starting quarterback, Matt Cassel.
"I think Dez could do pretty much anything Dez decides to do," Linehan said. "When he is on the field, he is a threat for us. So regardless of a lot of background, he can be a threat for us."
The Cowboys and the Jordan Brand have fitted Bryant with a wider and sturdier right cleat to help him in his return. If he can't play, then he will miss his fifth straight game and the Cowboys will look to his return coming Nov. 1 against the Seattle Seahawks at AT&T Stadium.
The Cowboys put a 4-6 week recovery period on Bryant's return after the surgery but acknowledged it could take longer. The six-week mark comes Monday. Last year defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence had the same surgery and was cleared after seven weeks.
Defensive end Greg Hardy returned to practice Friday after missing Thursday's workout with an illness. He is listed as probable.
Tight end James Hanna (ankle) went through his third straight day of limited work and is listed as questionable. Defensive end David Irving (back), wide receiver Brice Butler (hamstring) and defensive end Randy Gregory (hamstring) are probable.
