Cleveland Indians win ... again! Teams, athletes congratulate Tribe on historic win streak

The Cleveland Indians have secured their spot in the record book.

With a 5-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, the Tribe tallied their 21st consecutive win to take sole possession of the American League's longest win streak.

Cleveland's Twitter account was quick to post celebratory messages and found a clever way to include win No. 21 in its bio. Soon, other teams all too familiar with impressive win streaks tweeted responses -- the Chicago Cubs, whose 1935 squad also won 21 straight games, and the Oakland Athletics, whose 2002 "Moneyball" squad set the previous American League mark.

LeBron James posted a video congratulating the Indians, and promised to make it out to a game soon. Other players (and a mascot) from the Cleveland area and beyond also sent well-wishes to the new AL record-holders.

The Indians will go for their 22nd consecutive win on Thursday, when they start a four-game home series against the Kansas City Royals at 7:10 p.m. ET.
