Austin Dillon won the Daytona 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway. The win is his 1st win at Daytona and 2nd career win. He got into the rear of #10-Aric Almirola on the final lap. Almirola had taken the white flag as the leader but finished 11th. Dillon led only the final lap. The race ended after one attempt at NASCAR overtime.
#43-Wallace finished 2nd, his best career finish, followed by #11-Hamlin, #22-Logano, #37-Buescher, #21-Menard, #12-Blaney, #31-Newman, #34-McDowell, and #47-Allmendinger.
#12-Blaney dominated most of the race, leading 114 laps, but was involved in an accident with 2 laps to go that shuffled him back in the pack.
Pole sitter #88-Bowman ran up front most of the day but was caught in the accident with 2 laps to go and finished 17th.
Stage 1 was won by #41-Busch, finished 26th.
Stage 2 was won by #12-Blaney, finished 7th.
There were 24 lead changes among 14 drivers and 8 cautions for 37 yellow flag laps.
