Sources: Aphromoo signs with 100 Thieves

Zaqueri "aphromoo" Black has reportedly agreed to join the new 100 Thieves League Championship Series team. Riot Games

100 Thieves has signed three-time All-Star support player Zaqueri "aphromoo" Black for its 2018 League of Legends roster, sources close to the team and player told ESPN.

Aphromoo signed the agreement with the 100 Thieves on Wednesday, sources said. He joins top laner Kim "Ssumday" Chan-ho, jungler William "Meteos" Hartman and mid laner Yoo "Ryu" Sang-wook on the team. 100 Thieves did not respond to a request for comment.

100 Thieves acquired Ssumday, Meteos and Ryu shortly after the global free agency opening last Tuesday, and confirmed their additions the next day. The lineup is coached by former professional mid laner Neil "Pr0lly" Hammad. The team will now need to find a North American AD carry due to using its two international player slots on Ssumday and Ryu.

Aphromoo departed his long-time team, Counter Logic Gaming, on Nov. 20, following the expiration of his contract with that organization. Counter Logic Gaming did offer aphromoo a new contract with their team, sources said, but the player was seeking alternative options.

Counter Logic Gaming completed a transfer to acquire Vincent "Biofrost" Wang from Team SoloMid, the teams announced on Sunday. 100 Thieves had previously taken interest in Biofrost prior to his contract being sold to Counter Logic Gaming, sources said. Biofrost will replace aphromoo on the Counter Logic Gaming team.

100 Thieves is the only North American League of Legends roster yet to finalize its roster. The other new teams to the league -- Clutch Gaming, the Golden Guardians and OpTic Gaming -- have reportedly completed their roster acquisitions, although all three have not confirmed their lineups. Existing teams, such as Echo Fox, Team Liquid and FlyQuest have retooled their 2018 rosters from last season.

100 Thieves, founded by former Call of Duty pro Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag last year, were accepted into the North American League of Legends Championship Series in October. The team was acquired by Dan Gilbert, his Cleveland Cavaliers and his venture capital firms -- Ludlow Ventures, Courtside Ventures, Rock Ventures and Detroit Venture Partners -- over the summer. The team is operated by Haag, Pr0lly and other business figures from the venture capital firms.
