BUSHNELL, Fla. -- ESPN 150 safety Keanu "Keke" Neal (Bushnell, Fla./South Sumter) received his jersey Thursday during the 2013 American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game.

The 6-foot-1, 203-pound athlete said he was humbled by his selection to the prestigious game.

"It's great," Neal said. "To be considered one of the top 70 players in the nation and receive this honor is great. I'm very blessed."

Neal, who has been committed to Florida since February, said he is looking forward to meeting some of the other players selected for the game as well as the opportunity to develop chemistry with some of his future Gator teammates.

"I'm looking forward to just going down there and competing and meeting new people," he said. "Some of the guys that I'm playing with I haven't met, so it will be great just spending time with them. With Florida having five guys in the game, it's going to be great understanding their style of play and getting used to that. I'm going to love it."

South Sumter head coach Inman Sherman had high praise for his star athlete and noted the UA Game honor was well deserved.

"KeKe is a complete product kind of person," Sherman said. "His character is incredible. He has a 3.7 grade point average. He's a person with high morals and high integrity and then he's a great football player. He's a dream come true for a football coach. His teammates love him, his teachers love him and obviously we love him. Not to make anyone mad at our school, but probably the best product we've been able to produce from our school."

That says a lot, considering the school produced former Florida linebacker and Parade All-American Earl Everett. Everett might best be remembered for his helmetless sack of Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith in Florida's 41-14 victory in the 2007 BCS National Championship game.

Everett, now an assistant coach at South Sumter, reiterated Sherman's thoughts on Neal.

"He's a great kid, he grew up a few houses down from me," Everett said. "I've known him ever since he was little. He grew up in a great family. He does all the right things. He always comes to school and works hard at practice day in and day out. He's got a big future ahead of him.

"He's a great player. He flies around and he's not scared to put that hat on you. He's not your average high school player. He's like a grown man playing among boys. He works hard and that's the thing about him. Every day in practice he never loafs, he gives it all he's got. He doesn't look at it as if he's the best player on the team -- he looks at it like it's a team effort. He shows up every week and goes hard."
