Offensive prospects shine in Texas

For years, Texas has been renowned for producing some of the country's elite offensive talent. The 2013 class is on pace to prove the trend continues.

The top nine ranked Texans all play on the offensive side of the ball, and seven of those nine are skill-position players. Of those seven, five have committed to a Big 12, SEC or Pac-12 school. The other two -- Ricky Seals-Jones (Sealy, Texas/Sealy) and Torii Hunter Jr. (Prosper, Texas/Prosper) -- are four-star, ESPN 150 receivers with multiple offers.

With Texas A&M changing conferences, the SEC and the Big 12 are sharing honors for top billing with Texas athletes. A handful of players have chosen to take their talents far from home. ESPN 150 running back Dontre Wilson (DeSoto, Texas/DeSoto) has committed to Oregon, and receiver Eldridge Massington (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite), quarterback J.T. Barrett (Wichita Falls, Texas/Rider) and running back Jamel James (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch) -- three four-star, ESPN 300 athletes -- have committed to USC, Ohio State and Notre Dame, respectively.
