Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright miss practice again ahead of matchup with Rams

RENTON, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks began the week knowing they may be without either or both of their Pro Bowl linebackers for Sunday's hugely important game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The possibility of not having Bobby Wagner and/or K.J. Wright seems even greater with both players missing practice on Thursday for the second straight day.

With Wagner, it's not a surprise. He had been missing practice regularly for the past few weeks to rest the ailing hamstring that he reinjured Sunday against Jacksonville. So he wasn't expected to practice much, if at all, this week.

But missing both days is a particularly discouraging sign for Wright.

He suffered a concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit against Jacksonville, forcing him to leave Sunday's game after Wagner did. The NFL's concussion protocol mandates that players gradually return to practice before they're allowed to return to play following a concussion. So the fact that Wright has yet to practice by Thursday -- even in a limited capacity -- means he's running out of time to be cleared for Sunday's game.

D.J. Alexander replaced Wright at weak-side linebacker against Jacksonville. Michael Wilhoite moved from strong-side linebacker to the middle when Wagner left the game. Terence Garvin took over for Wilhoite on the strong side. That would likely be the replacement plan again Sunday if Wagner and Wright are out.

The Seahawks' Thursday practice report was more encouraging for running back Mike Davis. He's listed as a full participant after being limited a day earlier by a rib injury. That's a good sign that he'll be available Sunday. Davis has not seemed concerned, saying confidently on Wednesday that he's playing.

Rookie defensive tackle Nazair Jones (ankle) appears unlikely to play this week. He's missed the last three games and has yet to practice this week. Defensive end Dion Jordan (neck), out the past three games as well, is listed as a full participant after being limited Wednesday.

Defensive lineman Michael Bennett (knee), left tackle Duane Brown (ankle), tight end Jimmy Graham (ankle) and free safety Earl Thomas (heel) were among the other Seahawks who didn't practice Thursday. But their absences could merely be for scheduled rest.
