In Todd McShay's second mock draft, the New York Giants select UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen with the No. 2 overall pick.

Ho-hum. Better get used to seeing this name linked with the Giants. McShay also had Rosen to the Giants in his first mock draft of the season and fellow ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. had the same. Sensing the trend here?

The only difference in McShay's scenario is how it unfolded before the Giants. Kiper had the Giants selecting Rosen with USC quarterback Sam Darnold still on the board, with Josh Allen going No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns. McShay has Darnold as the top pick in his Mock Draft 2.0.

This is what the draft season is going to be like for the Giants. They have an aging Eli Manning and the No. 2 overall pick, their highest selection since taking Lawrence Taylor No. 2 overall in the 1981 draft. Darnold is likely to be the most common No. 1 pick in mock drafts this year. That leaves Rosen for the Giants in most instances.

Now it's hard to deny Rosen's physical skills. He looks the part, perhaps better than any quarterback in this draft. The way he throws the football is a thing of beauty. There isn't a throw he can't make and his footwork is pristine. His throwing mechanics are excellent while Darnold has a long, loopy motion that is sure to get overanalyzed over the next two months.

The questions with Rosen aren't related to his physical ability. It's with his coachability, desire and love for football and his ability to lead. There are more than a few people out there capable and willing to knock dents into Rosen in some of these categories, which makes you wonder whether he would be the right choice for the Giants at No. 2 overall.

Is Rosen's perceived arrogance more Aaron Rodgers than Jay Cutler? Has he grown out of the know-it-all phase that some who have coached him say existed?

It is going to be an interesting draft season, especially for the Giants, who could be in the market for a franchise quarterback for the first time since 2004. There is so much unknown with Davis Webb, last year's third-round pick, and Manning will be 38 before the end of next season. Only three quarterbacks -- Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and John Elway -- have started a Super Bowl at age 38 or older. Sooner rather than later the Giants will be handing the franchise to another quarterback.

The other quarterbacks McShay has in the first round of his Mock Draft 2.0 are Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield to the Denver Browns at No. 5 overall and Allen to the New York Jets with the very next pick.
