How do you suspect the team would split up backfield touches if Ezekiel Elliott ends up missing time?
Let's say there are 25 carries in a game on average. The likely breakdown would be along the lines of Alfred Morris getting 12, Darren McFadden getting eight and Rod Smith getting five. It would be a committee approach. Since coming to the Cowboys in 2014, offensive coordinator Scott Linehan has relied heavily on one back. McFadden got 83 percent of the carries in 2014. In 2015, McFadden got 65 percent, but only because he did not become the every-down back until the sixth game of the season. Last season, Elliott got 76 percent of the carries. In the first five games this season, he has received 91 percent of the carries. History might suggest Linehan would go with the hot hand, but at the start, Morris would get the most carries, but not all of them. -- Todd Archer

Is it fair to say Orleans Darkwa will be the lead back moving forward?
It's fair to say he's the lead back for the time being, but knowing the Giants, that could change several weeks down the line if he doesn't continue at this impressive pace. Darkwa is third in the league, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. There's no way right now coach Ben McAdoo could look the rest of his locker room in the face if Darkwa wasn't the lead back, especially with rookie Wayne Gallman putting the ball on the ground twice in three games. It all could change, however, in several weeks once Paul Perkins (ribs) is healthy if Darkwa comes back down to earth. -- Jordan Raanan
