Splyce keeps NiP at the bottom of the pack

Team Splyce celebrates after sweeping Ninjas in Pyjamas, 2-0, on Friday at the European League Championship Series. Riot Games

Splyce closed out Week 7, Day 2 of the European League of Legends Championship Series with a dominating 2-0 victory over Ninjas in Pyjamas on Friday in Berlin.

While the Ninjas in Pyjamas (0-9, 2-18 match record) managed to pick up first blood and first turret gold in the first 10 minutes into Game 1, Splyce (5-3, 10-8 match record) dictated the pace of the game. Splyce's strategy of drafting pick potential in every role paid off in spades after a 2-for-0 at 12 minutes gave it a small gold lead, with NiP starting to fall farther and farther behind. A big reason why Splyce ran through NiP was the combination of support Mihael "Mikyx" Mehle's Braum and jungler Jonas "Trashy" Andersen's Sejuani, both allowing the rest of the team to contribute in chain crowd controlling NiP to death. A 22-minute Baron kill led to a 7,400-gold lead for Splyce, giving it the power to break open NiP's base before a Baron bait at 30 minutes led to a 5-for-0 clean ace for Splyce to put away Game 1 in 30 minutes.

Once again in Game 2, NiP picked up first blood and, once again, it didn't matter one bit. Splyce drafted a high damage and crowd control composition, which allowed it to overcome NiP's minor gold lead, asserting control over the map. Splyce began snowballing as top laner Martin "Wunder" Hansen's Cho'Gath grew into a massive beast, feasting on NiP's carries while face tanking ludicrous amounts of damage in the late game. Splyce then picked up a 22-minute Baron before securing a 5-for-1 ace at 24 minutes, increasing its gold lead to 9,000 gold ahead around 26 minutes. With that gold lead increasing to over 11,000 at 29 minutes, there was quite literally nothing NiP could do to prevent Splyce from taking a 5-for-0 ace at 32 minutes to close out the series in 32 minutes.

Splyce next takes to the Rift to take on Misfits on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET, while Ninjas in Pyjamas next faces G2 Esports on Thursday at 2 p.m. ET.
