Texas LB Jefferson leaves Saturday's loss with apparent head injury

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas lost linebacker Malik Jefferson in Saturday's 24-20 loss to No. 16 West Virginia after suffering an apparent head injury.

Jefferson went to the locker room in the first half to be evaluated for a head injury.

The Big 12's preseason Defensive Player of the Year ranks second on the Longhorns in tackles, tackles for loss and sacks. He showed his two best performances of the season in wins against Baylor and Texas Tech during the past two weeks.

Texas was also playing today without starting left guard Jake McMillon, who's out with a knee injury.
