Div. II player has bond revoked

CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- One of six suspended California University of Pennsylvania football players jailed in an off-campus beating has had his bond revoked in an unrelated hit-and-run case in Washington, D.C., that left a man in a coma.

The beating -- and the revelation that 22-year-old Corey Ford played this season despite awaiting sentencing on a felony assault charge in the D.C. incident -- has led the state-owned school to hire an independent third party to review its football program.

His attorney contends Ford was with the others but not involved in the Oct. 30 beating that left 30-year-old Lewis Campbell III with brain injuries. Campbell left a Pittsburgh hospital on Wednesday.

Witnesses say the players beat Campbell after his girlfriend argued with one of the players. The players allegedly chanted "Football strong!" as they left.
