Hot seat update: Is USC ready to make a move?

Before the season, industry insiders identified two jobs that could send a slow coaching carousel spinning a lot faster: LSU and USC.

Ed Orgeron's ability to navigate a treacherous schedule has earned him at least another year in Baton Rouge. That leaves USC and Clay Helton, who led the Trojans to a Pac-12 championship just last season and a Rose Bowl title the year before. A 4-2 start with promise from young quarterback JT Daniels and the defense seemed to all but secure Helton's status for 2019.

But since then, the Trojans have dropped four of five, including Saturday's 34-27 defeat to 2-8 UCLA at the Rose Bowl. The UCLA loss truly put Helton's job status in doubt, and the carousel could finally get a major push.

Here's an updated look at the coaching hot seat entering Week 13. Three Power 5 jobs remain vacant, as Sunday saw Kansas fill (Les Miles) and Colorado open (Mike MacIntyre fired).
