Amanda Serrano, already the only female boxer to win world titles in five weight classes, will go for one in a sixth.
Serrano will face Yamila Esther Reynoso for a vacant women's junior welterweight belt on the Shawn Porter-Danny Garcia undercard on Sept. 8 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, promoter Lou DiBella announced Thursday.
Although Serrano-Reynoso won't be part of the Porter-Garcia "Showtime Championship Boxing" telecast (9 p.m. ET), the fight will stream live and for free on the Showtime Sports YouTube channel and the Showtime Boxing Facebook page beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
Serrano (34-1-1, 26 KOs), 29, a Puerto Rico native fighting out of Brooklyn, has won world titles at bantamweight, junior featherweight, featherweight, junior lightweight and lightweight.
Serrano's most recent world title fight was a third-round knockout win over Edina Kiss 13 months ago in the 122-pound junior featherweight division. Serrano then boxed in a nontitle fight at 127 pounds in November and is moving up to the 140-pound division for a shot at another belt.
"I'm super excited to be fighting for a world title in my sixth weight class," Serrano said. "My opponent is really a welterweight, having defended her Argentinean 147-pound title by knockout in her last fight, and is dropping down one division to face me. I am coming up four divisions for this shot. I'm sure Reynoso will rehydrate back up to her natural weight after the weigh-in, but this is a risk worth taking. She's never been stopped either, so I know she's durable.
"This is a tremendous card to be a part of with Garcia versus Porter as the main event. My promoter, Lou DiBella, has big things lined up for me, and I am eager to take on all challenges."
DiBella has long been a champion of women's boxing as the promoter for fighters such as Serrano and featherweight Heather Hardy and regularly puts women's fights on the shows he promotes.

In the boxing ring, Serrano is a record-breaker, becoming the only female boxer to win world titles in five weight classes, and on Sept. 8, she will attempt to break her own record, vying for a sixth division championship. Reynoso (11-4-3, 8 KOs), 22, of Argentina, has had two previous opportunities to fight for a world title -- at junior welterweight and junior middleweight -- but lost each time.
