Amir Khan eyeing Adrien Broner over Kell Brook for next fight

Amir Khan thinks there is more chance of facing Adrien Broner than Kell Brook next.

After wiping out Phil Lo Greco in 39 seconds Saturday to end a ring exile of nearly two years, Khan, 31, wants to keep active and ultimately has eyes on winning a world welterweight title.

Fighting Brook, 31, would be a big event in the UK, but Khan's English rival has stepped up to super-welterweight after losing the IBF world welterweight title to American Errol Spence in May last year.

Khan (32-4, 20 KOs), from Bolton, fancies a fight with American Broner (33-3-1, 24 KOs), 28, who drew with Jessie Vargas also on Saturday.

"I'd like Broner, Broner is a big name," Khan said. "That would be a great fight to bring him to the UK. Now the UK market is massive and fighters from America want to come here.

"That could be a title fight and I really would like that fight. I think he would take the fight."

Brook was ringside for Khan's comeback and the two exchanged words in the ring after -- but a clash between the pair still seems some way off. Eddie Hearn, who promotes both boxers, tried to make a clash between the two English rivals for the summers of 2016 and 2017.

Hearn is desperate to make the fight, which is perhaps the biggest in British boxing outside of world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua boxing on home soil. But Khan insists any fight with Brook (37-2, 26 KOs) must be at welterweight.

"Hundred per cent, it has to be at 147 [pounds] if it's going to happen," Khan added. "I want to win a world title at this weight. There are big names in this division, so definitely, if Kell wants it, let's do it at 147."
