49ers 'couldn't believe' heavy Cowboys presence at Levi's Stadium

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The atmosphere at Levi's Stadium was reminiscent of a major college bowl game. That wouldn't be such a bad thing if it wasn't the home of the San Francisco 49ers.

It was hard not to notice and impossible not to hear the heavy presence of Dallas Cowboys fans in the stands for their favorite team's 24-17 win Sunday afternoon over the 49ers.

"I couldn't believe it," linebacker Ahmad Brooks said. "I was like 'There's more Dallas Cowboys fans than there are 49ers fans,' but as they say, across the country, the Dallas Cowboys are the most favorite team in the United States. That holds true, especially out here."

There wasn't much for those Cowboys fans to cheer about for most of the first half and the Niners fans in attendance were sure to let them know about it in the early going. But when Dallas began to make big plays, Cowboys fans could be heard en masse.

"It's America's Team and we kind of expect that everywhere we go, the fans to show up like that, so we're thankful for them," Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said.

Naturally, no team wants to see so many opposing fans in their home stadium, but 49ers tackle Joe Staley pointed out after his team's third consecutive loss that there's an easy solution to prevent that from happening in the future.

"They were loud today," Staley said. "It seemed like there was a lot of Cowboys fans out there today. But we're sitting at 1-3 right now so we have got to do our job to make sure our fans come out for us. That's what we can control."

It's a sentiment that Brooks echoed when asked what he could do to help.

"Go get a win," Brooks said.
