Willie Snead questionable, remains risky fantasy play

METAIRIE, La. – New Orleans Saints receiver Willie Snead is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at Green Bay after being limited in practice all week with his hamstring injury.

Chances are Snead will be able to play since he played through the injury last week in his 2017 debut. But his fantasy owners should remain cautious as he is clearly working his way back into the mix slowly.

Snead played 21 snaps in last week’s 52-38 victory over the Detroit Lions, with three targets and one catch for 11 yards. All of those numbers ranked fourth or tied for last among the Saints’ receivers, behind Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn Jr. and Brandon Coleman. And that could remain the case until Snead gets back in rhythm.

Snead is obviously capable of doing big things in New Orleans’ offense, especially as a slot receiver, after combining for 141 catches for 1,879 yards and seven touchdowns the past two years. So a big game could come at any moment.

It’s just hard to predict a consistent amount of targets and touches for Snead until we actually see him in that role again after he missed the first four games because of a three-game DUI suspension and the hamstring injury.

Saints left tackle Terron Armstead is also listed as questionable Sunday after practicing on a limited basis all week with his shoulder injury. But Armstead appears likely to play after he did the same thing last week and played 64 snaps at a high level in his 2017 debut.
