Patriots provide hint of how they plan to fit fifth Super Bowl banner

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots have provided a hint as to how they might be resolving what owner Robert Kraft has referred to as a first-class problem: Where will the team find room for its fifth Super Bowl championship banner?

There has been ongoing construction to create room in the area where the team's first four banners had hung. As the club noted Sunday night, the Gillette Stadium sign in the south end zone has now been raised from its previous perch.

This is a costly project for the franchise, but one that owners Robert and Jonathan Kraft have to be happy to pick up the bill for because it means a surplus of championships.

"We’ve had to change the construction around. We have a little surprise for our fans that night, which should be very cool," Kraft said in late July on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

With the sign now raised, there is ample room for the fifth banner and perhaps more in the future.
