          Aaron Rodgers back on (the golf) course after collarbone injury

          Aaron Rodgers said last week that his surgically repaired collarbone felt good enough to allow him to play golf in the one-day Pro-Am at the PGA Tour's Waste Management Open in Scottsdale, Arizona.

          In a good sign for his recovery, he's teeing it up again this week.

          He's at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am for three days (and possibly a fourth) as the amateur partner of PGA Tour winner Jerry Kelly.

          The Green Bay Packers quarterback and the Madison, Wisconsin, pro golfer have teamed up in this event several times before and are hoping to be one of the 25 teams to make it to Sunday's final round. It's an official PGA Tour event for the 156 professionals in the field, and there's a separate team competition.

          Rodgers and Kelly will play with another NFL player -- Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who is partnered with pro Kevin Streelman. The tournament uses three courses. The Rodgers' group plays Spyglass Hill on Thursday at 8 a.m. local time, Monterey Peninsula on Friday at 9:39 a.m. and Pebble Beach on Saturday at 8:59 a.m. Saturday's television coverage on CBS typically highlights the amateur celebrities playing at Pebble Beach.

          Rodgers carries a handicap index of 5.7 and lists his home course as Green Bay Country Club, according to the Wisconsin State Golf Association.

          The 34-year-old is more than three months removed from surgery to repair his broken right clavicle that kept him out of nine games last season.

          "I played [golf] like three times since the season ended," Rodgers told ESPN's Michael Collins. "Obviously, [it was a] long recovery with the collarbone. When you have a bunch of screws in there and a couple of plates, you've got to be careful about how much reverberation you have running up that collarbone, so I gave it a lot of time to heal. I feel great -- [my golf] swing, not too much."

          Other current or former quarterbacks in the field include Alex Smith, Tony Romo and Steve Young.

          The PGA Tour posted a video of Rodgers teeing off on the 18th hole at Pebble Beach during a practice round earlier in the week:

          Rodgers told Collins that if he and Kelly can make the cut to Sunday's final round, it would be "an all-time sports achievement for me."

          "I'd say in the top five," he added. "[Winning] the Super Bowl, [winning] the MVP, dunking on a guy when I was 19 and then this would be kind of right up there."
