Calvin Abueva signs two-year deal with Phoenix

Phoenix has signed Calvin Abueva to a two-year contract, the team management revealed in a statement on Tuesday.

"The Phoenix Fuel Masters are happy to come to terms with Mr. Calvin Abueva and ink a mutually beneficial 2-year contract with the franchise," the statement read. "The team looks forward to grow and improve with Calvin in the years to come."

Terms of the contract were not disclosed by Phoenix.

The 30-year-old Abueva has been impressive in his first four games with the Fuel Masters, posting averages of 13.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Phoenix has zoomed to a 3-1 start in the season-ending PBA Governors' Cup with the former Rookie of the Year making an impact on both ends of the floor.

Phoenix acquired the services of the energetic Abueva when the former San Sebastián forward was dealt by the Alaska Aces to the Fuel Masters last month in exchange for future first round pick and guard Karl Dehesa.

Phoenix is currently on a two-week break and will return to action on September 19 against Meralco.
