Blackwater, NLEX to start play in Summer Super 8 tournament

Fresh from ruling a tournament in Surabaya, Indonesia, Blackwater leaves for Macau on Monday to play in the 2018 Summer Super 8 tournament, a competition that features several professional squads from China, South Korea, Japan, Chinese-Taipei and the Philippines.

The Elite reigned supreme in Surabaya after completing a six-game sweep of the 50th Pacific Caesar Pro Basketball Tournament that featured Indonesia ball clubs reinforced by two imports.

In Macau, Blackwater will be joined by NLEX as the two PBA teams prepare for the upcoming Governors' Cup. The season-ending conference opens in August.

NLEX makes its debut in the tournament by taking on ASEAN Basketball League squad the Formosa Dreamers at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the Macau East Asian Games Dome. The Elite will then make their first appearance by clashing with the Samsung Thunders from the Korean Basketball League at 5 p.m.

The ET Land Elephants, also from the KBL, collide with the Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers at 7 p.m., while the Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka-Japan and Guangzhou Long Lions face off in the nightcap at 9 p.m.

Blackwater is bunched with the Guangzhou Long Lions, Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka and Samsung Thunders in Group B. NLEX is bracketed at Group A in the company of the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, ET Land Elephants and Formosa Dreamers.
