Leigh Halfpenny has agreed a return to Wales with the Scarlets, according to reports.

Wales and British & Irish Lions fullback Halfpenny has been on the look out for a new club since his release from Toulon at the end of last season.

On Monday, the Times reported that the 28-year-old had decided to join the PRO12 champions ahead of former club Cardiff Blues.

It is claimed Halfpenny will sign a National Dual Contract (NDC) with the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) funding 60 percent of a three-year contract.

Halfpenny left the Blues for France in the summer of 2014, winning the European Champions Cup in his first season.

Scarlets and the WRU have both been contacted for comment.

It has previously been reported that Halfpenny failed to agree an NDC with the WRU and Blues due to the length of contract offered.

The player had been keen on a deal up until the end of the 2019 Rugby World Cup, so that he had the option to try his hand at Super Rugby in 2020.

However, with the WRU unwilling to commit to a contract that ends midway through a season, it looks as though Halfpenny may well have relented on that wish.
