Wasps clinched the Premiership Sevens title after beating Newcastle Falcons 31-12 in the final at Franklin's Gardens.

After defeating Exeter Chiefs in the semifinals, reigning sevens champions Wasps scored five tries as they romped to back-to-back titles.

Wasps captain Dan Robson opened the scoring in the final after finding a gap in the Falcons defence before quick-fire tries from Adam Wadwan and Cameron Cowell handed the Falcons a 12-7 lead.

Christian Wade went over just before half-time, and the conversion from Robson edged Wasps into a 14-12 lead and they continued their dominance after the break.

Josh Bassett crossed after Robson put him away down the left, evading the covering Falcons defence to push Wasps' lead out to nine points. Tries from Craig Hampson and Gaby Lovobalavu rounded off a convincing victory.

In the plate final, Gloucester triumphed over Saracens and tournament hosts Northampton Saints beat rivals Leicester Tigers 24-22 to win the bowl tournament, as Tom Collins went over with a late try.
