Fantasy baseball mock draft: 10-team head-to-head points

Yes, Kenley Jansen went in the second round of a fantasy baseball draft, and no, it wasn't a Los Angeles Dodgers fan who made the pick.

Head-to-head points leagues offer a different way to play than roto leagues, and it requires a different strategy. In ESPN's default scoring system, both wins and saves are worth five points. If Clayton Kershaw pitches an eight-inning gem with four hits and one earned run allowed with 10 strikeouts while picking up a win, he gets 33 points. If Kenley Jansen earns the save in that game, plus two others, pitching three perfect innings with six strikeouts that same week, he earns 31 points. And since it's a weekly game, one manager's Jansen essentially cancels out the other's Kershaw if that scenario were to unfold.

With steals worth the same as runs scored and walks, speed specialists no longer carry a premium, either. Billy Hamilton and his fast friends tend to fall in this format, while those who can earn a base on balls (walks are worth a point) and avoid whiffing (strikeouts lose a point) tend to get a nice bump in value.
