Former Houston Dash coach Randy Waldrum has been appointed as coach of Nigeria's Women's national football team, subject to contract negotiations.
Waldrum took part in an interview process in August after the departure of Florence Omagbemi, who was let go despite guiding the country to the African title.
Following a board meeting on Thursday, a statement from the NFF executive committee said the Exco has accepted the recommendation of its technical committee to hire Waldrum.
"Board approved the recommendation of the Technical and Development Committee for the appointment of Mr. Randy Waldrum as Technical Adviser of the Super Falcons, and directed the Secretariat to immediately conclude negotiations with Mr. Waldrum," the statement read.
Waldrum was fired in May from his post as head coach of the Houston Dash in the wake of four straight losses and left with a 19-39-13 record.
Prior to that, he spent was coach of of Notre Dame women's program from 1999 to 2013, leading them to two NCAA titles. He then took charge of Trinidad and Tobago in 2014, before being relieved of his position in 2016.
Waldrum will be tasked with qualifying for the 2019 Women's World Cup, as well as winning the African Women Nations Cup in 2018.
