Zach Brown to offensive players: Stop crying about getting hit

Washington Redskins linebacker Zach Brown didn’t have much sympathy for Green Bay receiver Davante Adams, who issued a series of tweets over what he viewed as an unnecessary hit Sunday.

Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis leveled Adams with a blindside block following an interception. For the second time this season, Adams was then placed in the concussion protocol. In his tweets, Adams said he didn’t understand why Davis would target him like that when “we nowhere near the play and u lead with ya head and ear hole a defenseless player.” Adams then tweeted, “Look it’s football but no room for s--- like that.” He also mentioned what others have after similar hits: NFL players are in it “together n look out for one another not mess with a mans livelihood and hand out unnecessary concussions.”

Adams’ reaction drew a rebuke from Brown via Twitter.

Among his tweets:

  • “Tell him don't play.... cause I'm always headhunting”

  • “Look, don't play football if u don't wanna get hit or hurt. So stop crying about getting hit !!! You know what u sign up for”

  • “One last thing havebt been fine for a hit yet”

Brown is the Redskins’ leading tackler and a pending free agent this offseason; he does not have a reputation as someone who takes cheap shots. He missed his first game of the season Sunday because of issues with his hip and Achilles. He had back issues earlier this season.

Davis later tried to apologize to Adams via social media.
