Falcons Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman selected to Pro Bowl

SELECTIONS

Julio Jones, WR, third Pro Bowl selection: Jones leads the league with 118 receptions and is second behind Pittsburgh's Antonio Brown (1,586) with 1,544 receiving yards. Jones has seven touchdowns and probably would have more if he were targeted more in scoring situations. Jones set the franchise record for receptions in a season and is 26 catches away from surpassing Marvin Harrison's NFL record of 143, a possible feat with two games remaining.

Devonta Freeman, RB, first Pro Bowl selection: Freeman entered the season with big aspirations and the goal of becoming the MVP some day. He took a step in the right direction by making the Pro Bowl in his second season despite not even beginning the season as the starting running back. Freeman led the league in touchdowns for weeks and is now tied for fourth with 12 -- 10 rushing and two receiving. Freeman is 93 rushing yards away from 1,000 for the season.

SNUBS

Patrick DiMarco, FB: He has been one of the best blockers in the league and helped pave the way for Freeman in the running game. DiMarco also has proved to be a reliable pass-catching threat out of the backfield with 12 receptions and two touchdown catches on 16 targets. Carolina's Mike Tolbert and Oakland's Marcel Reece were the two fullbacks selected.

Matt Bosher, P: Bosher, who was named ESPN's Punter of the Week this week along with Pat McAfee of the Colts and Johnny Hekker of the Rams, has been solid all season. Bosher's contribution often goes underappreciated. He is third in the league with 47.93 yards per punt, with a long of 69 yards.

Desmond Trufant, CB: Trufant was playing at an All-Pro level for the majority of the season and became a cornerback opposing offenses didn't want to throw against. He surely would have gotten the nod had it not been for some hiccups late in the season, when he started to give up some yardage and picked up some pass-interference penalties. A former first-round draft pick, Trufant will be an elite cornerback in this league, regardless. It's hard to argue with the list of cornerbacks selected.
