UA jersey tour: Carlos Becker

WATCH: Carlos Becker UA jersey presentation

On Tuesday afternoon when Carlos Becker slipped on his Under Armour All-American Game jersey in a presentation sponsored by American Family Insurance, it was both an unexpected accomplishment and a first.

“It really means a lot,” said Becker. “I never really expected to be in the Under Armour Game. I feel really appreciative.”

The unassuming and humble ESPN 300 defensive back looked at Tuesday’s ceremony as more important than an individual award. The ceremony was a first for Osceola High, and could open the door for future top players at the Orlando area school.

“No one at the school really knew about it until an article was written," Becker said of his honor. "I feel pretty good about it for the school. I feel like it really helps put my school on the map, and is something for younger kids to look at as a goal. This is great for our school and football program,”

The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder with a 6-foot-10 wingspan is one of the most heavily recruited defensive backs in the Southeast. Over the weekend, Becker made his first official visit to Wisconsin.

The Badgers are one of five schools Becker will likely choose from, with a second official set for Halloween weekend.

“I got my Top 5 right now. I visited Wisconsin over the weekend, and also have Florida State, Kentucky, Ole Miss and NC State making up my Top 5. The only other visit I have scheduled is NC State, the weekend of the Clemson game. It’s the last weekend in October.”

Five questions with Carlos Becker:

What players are you looking forward to competing with or against at the Under Armour All America game?

"I really don’t follow high school players and recruiting much. I don’t think there is one player that I want to go against. I’m just happy to be in the game, and have the chance to compete."

What is your earliest football memory?

"In eighth grade we got to play in the Citrus Bowl. They moved me to safety, and I caught a pick in the Citrus Bowl. That’s been a great memory."

If you could take on any professional athlete in their sport, who would it be?

"The swimmer that wins everything, Michael Phelps. I think I could take him. I got him with my long arms."

What number do you wear, and why?

"I wear 15 for Dominic Lee. He passed away last summer in a car accident. He was a teammate and friend. I wear it to honor and remember him."

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

"I feel like people know everything about me. There is nothing off the top of my head."
