When Philadelphia 76ers coach Brett Brown told the assembled media that Joel Embiid would have his minutes restricted in the teens to begin the season, the oft-injured center voiced his displeasure. Embiid ended up playing 27 minutes in the first game Wednesday against the Washington Wizards.

"Yesterday I played, and my body feels great today," Embiid told The Philadelphia Inquirer on Thursday. "My knee feels amazing. So I feel like if I have to play today, I would play, depending on how I feel. But I feel like I’m ready."

The Sixers' training staff didn't allow Embiid to play on back-to-back nights last season to protect his twice-surgically-repaired right foot. Embiid is hoping that restriction can also end as soon as possible.

"I'm actually going to ask them the question," Embiid said. "Hopefully, I get to play in back-to-backs."

The answer will come this weekend as the Sixers play at home against Boston on Friday and at Toronto on Saturday.
