According to The Times-Picayune, small forward Martell Webster, 30, has agreed to a non-guaranteed, one-year contract with the New Orleans Pelicans

Rumor Central

Webster, the No. 6 selection in the 2005 NBA draft by the Portland Trail Blazers, had right hip surgery in November 2015 to repair a partially torn labrum and damaged cartilage. He has been out of the NBA since then. Webster played with the Washington Wizards from 2012-13 through 2014-15 before he was released at the start of the 2015-16 season.

In 580 career appearances, 266 starts, Webster averaged 8.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1 assist.

With Solomon Hill sidelined six to eight months following surgery to fix his torn left hamstring, Webster will compete with Perry Jones, Darius Miller and E'Twaun Moore for the minutes at small forward during training camp and the preseason.
