Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr agreed to an interview with Scott Ostler of the San Francisco Chronicle. During their conversation in Del Mar, California, Kerr was asked to update the status of his health.

"It’s all right, it's all right," Kerr said. "I'd love to say that I'm all better, but not the case. I'm feeling better, having a good summer, relaxing. But it's just been an ongoing thing now for two years."

Kerr, 51, has dealt with chronic headaches the past few years because of complications following back surgery. He took an extended break during the 2016-17 regular season, but feels he can stay on the bench for all 82 games in 2017-18.

"I fully expect to coach all year," Kerr confidently said. "That's my expectation. And for many years to come."

Though Kerr is spending a lot of time resting at his Southern California home, he still spends some time every day conducting Warriors' business ahead of the opening of training camp on Sept. 26.

"I'm on the phone, talking to (general manager) Bob Myers, talking to our coaches and to different people. Writing down thoughts, putting together plans for our coaching retreat (before training camp)."

Kerr signed a five-year contract to become the Warriors head coach in May of 2014 and his deal is reportedly worth a total between $22 million to $25 million.

If Kerr has to take a break at any time during the 2017-18 season, assistant coach Mike Brown will once again likely take over as head coach.
