The Golden State Warriors currently don't have a pick in the 2017 NBA draft thanks to past trades. There is a chance the Warriors will attempt to buy a pick in the second round if they like a certain player who is still available.

"You look at our cap coming up over the next few years, and it would be really helpful for us to have some young guys on rookie contracts," Warriors coach Steve Kerr told the San Francisco Chronicle. "But if there’s nobody there that excites them, it may not make much sense. It just depends on the board and who’s there."

Last year, the Warriors paid the Milwaukee Bucks $2.4 million for the No. 38 pick and used the selection on UNLV guard Patrick McCaw, which turned out to be a great move by general manager Bob Myers. McCaw averaged 15.1 minutes per game in the regular season and had an 18-point game off the bench in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals.

"When we drafted McCaw, we didn’t know what he would give us," Myers said. "Who’s the best player at the number we’re looking at? That’s basically how we’ll approach this year."
