The Los Angeles Dodgers already have an established closer in Kenley Jansen, but that's not stopping them from checking in on Baltimore Orioles ninth-inning man Zach Britton.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Dodgers have called the O's about Britton, who's also getting attention from teams with a more pressing need for a closer.

Britton was placed on the disabled list in early May with a left forearm strain and returned to the team at the beginning of July. The 29-year-old southpaw has a 2.25 ERA in just 11 games (nine finished) this season, with eight strikeouts over 12 innings.

Jansen told Heyman he'd be excited to have Britton join the Dodgers: "Man, that would be awesome."

An All-Star the last two seasons, Britton finished fourth in Cy Young voting last year after he posted a 0.54 ERA and went a perfect 47-0 in save opportunities. His 47 saves were also an American League-best.

Britton signed a one-year, $11.4 million deal with the Orioles this past offseason. He's eligible for arbitration in 2018 and scheduled to reach free agency in 2019.
