MADISON, Wisc. -- Following an exciting opening weekend of the 2018 prep football season, Mother Nature has thrown a wrench into this week’s schedule.

The Badger Conference crossover game between Baraboo and host Stoughton was moved to Thursday night due to pending weather issues and several other games involving Big Eight Conference and Badger Conference schools have made adjustments following a week of record-setting rainfall and severe flooding in the Madison area.

Stoughton junior quarterback Alex Hobson tossed three touchdown passes, including two to junior wide receiver Nathan Hutcherson, to lead the Vikings to a 28-14 victory over the Thunderbirds. The game was moved to Thursday due to pending thunderstorms in the area tonight.

Other changes as of Friday morning included:

-- The Badger Conference crossover game between Monroe and DeForest was moved up to 5 p.m. today in DeForest.

-- The Badger Conference crossover game between Madison Edgewood and Sauk Prairie in Prairie du Sac was moved up to 5 p.m. today.

-- The Badger Conference crossover game between Monona Grove and Portage moved up to 6 p.m. today in Portage.

-- The Big Eight Conference game between Madison West and Madison East was moved to Saturday at 1 p.m. and relocated to Madison La Follette's Lussier Stadium. The game originally had been set for Breese Stevens Field but was moved due to heavy flooding on East Washington Avenue.

The Beloit Memorial at Sun Prairie game at Ashley Field was still on as of Friday morning. The home-opener dubbed ‘Pack the Pit Night’ for the host Cardinals has also been designated as “First Responders Night.” Sun Prairie players will wear special “Sun Prairie Strong” uniforms to honor those who responded to the July 10 explosion in downtown Sun Prairie.

The blast killed Cory Barr, a captain in the Sun Prairie Volunteer Fire Department. There will be an auction of some of the jerseys. There will be no admission charge but donations will be accepted. Proceeds will go to the Sun Prairie relief fund and Barr’s family.

Wisconsin Heights routed Port Edwards 70-34 in an eight-player football game on Thursday night. The game also served as a fund-raiser for families in the Mazomanie and Black Earth areas affected by recent flooding. The local chapter of the FFA (Future Farmers of America) will donate proceeds from concession sales to local flood relief along with proceeds from a 50/50 raffle.
