INDIANAPOLIS -- Many of the assistant coaches from Chuck Pagano’s staff are not waiting around to see if the new head coach of the Indianapolis Colts will retain them.

General manager Chris Ballard said on Jan. 1 that the new coach would be the one assembling his coaching staff. Five of Pagano’s assistant coaches have already left the Colts for new teams.

Special-teams coach Tom McMahon, who led one of the NFL’s top special teams for five seasons, is now the special-teams coach of the Denver Broncos.

Offensive line and assistant head coach Joe Philbin is returning to Green Bay to be the Packers' offensive coordinator. Philbin spent nine seasons, including five as offensive coordinator, before becoming head coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2012. Philbin spent two seasons with the Colts.

Tight ends coach Jim Hostler is joining Philbin in Green Bay, where he will be the team’s wide receivers coach. Hostler spent a season as receivers coach of the Colts and the last two seasons coaching tight ends.

Running backs coach Jemal Singleton is heading to Oakland, where he’ll reportedly coach that team’s group of running backs, including Marshawn Lynch. Singleton spent the past two seasons with the Colts, where he earned a lot of praise from veteran Frank Gore.

Defensive backs coach Greg Williams is teaming up with McMahon in Denver, where he’ll be the Broncos’ defensive backs coach. Williams spent two seasons with the Colts.

The Colts might not be done losing assistant coaches. Seattle is reportedly interested in Colts quarterbacks coach Brian Schottenheimer to be its offensive coordinator after the Seahawks fired Darell Bevell. Schottenheimer has a close relationship with all of the quarterbacks on the Colts roster.

Buffalo is reportedly interested in Colts offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski for its OC position. Chudzinski became the Colts offensive coordinator in Week 9 of the 2015 season.
