ESPN Analytics: Browns' best chance to win a game this season is Sunday

BEREA, Ohio -- Don’t look to analytics to feel good about the Cleveland Browns avoiding a winless season.

ESPN Analytics gives the Browns a mere 36.4 percent chance to beat the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

That is the best chance the Browns have to win a game the rest of the season, per the Football Power Index, which is calculated with analytics. The second best chance comes against Baltimore in December -- 36.3 percent.

The Bears’ game on Christmas eve is third at 32.1 percent, and the Packers at home (without Aaron Rodgers) is 31.4 percent.

None of this is exactly encouraging when it comes to avoiding a winless season.

The FPI ranks the Browns the 31st team in a 32-team league, ahead of only the Colts, who (naturally) beat the Browns earlier this season. It also gives the Browns a 61.4 percent chance to have the first pick in the draft.

The Browns’ best chances to win in the first nine games came against the Colts (47.7 percent), Bengals (49.1) and Jets (40.8).

As for this weekend, the Las Vegas Westgate Superbook has Tennessee as a six-point favorite.

The Browns can take heart in one number: The analytics website numberfire.com gives them a slightly better chance to win Sunday -- 37.4 percent.

ESPN’s numbers are based on weekly results and could change as the season goes on.
