Team GB's women's 4x400m relay quartet will receive their 2008 Olympic bronze medals at the Muller Anniversary Games in London on Saturday.

The British team of Christine Ohuruogu, Kelly Sotherton, Marilyn Okoro and Nicola Sanders originally finished fifth, behind the United States, Russia, Jamaica and Belarus but the Belarus and Russia were disqualified for doping in 2016 after the ICC retested their samples and subsequently elevated Britain to third.

However, it has still taken two years to receive the retest results after Russia's Tatyana Firova and Belarus' Sviatlana Vusovich dragged out the appeal process.

"Hearing the news that we are to receive our bronze medals stirs up a series of emotions," said Ohuruogu in a statement.

"Of course I am happy that we are finally getting the reward and recognition that our performance on the day deserved, but there is still some frustration that we never had 'our moment' at the time, and that it has taken 10 years to get to this stage."

Ohuruogu's teammate Sotherton added: "I finally feel satisfied we got what the team deserved. To run the time we did and not medal and finish fifth was hard."

The team will be awarded their medals at the London Stadium at 1.53pm on Saturday, an event which is also being televised by the BBC.
